How does Anvil pricing work?
Anvil pricing is as flexible as our product. We charge on: additional user seats, API and/or integrated usage, and platform access level.
Anvil supports three plans:
- Free: Default plan on sign up which includes unlimited e-signatures and Workflow submissions from the Anvil dashboard.
- Metered: Unlocks API usage and great for product teams & developers looking to integrate with Anvil.
- Enterprise: Unlocks enterprise or advanced features to help teams scale their product.
Plans can optionally be combined with add-ons to build a custom plan that suits your exact needs. You can use as many or as few add-ons as you’d like. Add-ons include:
- Additional users: Add additional user seats to collaborate with your team.
- Pre-paid usage: Unlock per-unit discounts by buying bulk usage upfront in bulk.
- Product pack: Unlock advanced features and customize Anvil for embedded, on-brand experiences.
What is included in Anvils’ Free plan?
The Free plan is the perfect way for anyone to get started with Anvil. For many users, it may include everything needed to automate paperwork, including:
- 2 user seats
- Access to Anvils’ core features
- Unlimited document templates
- Unlimited Workflow submissions (from the Anvil dashboard or shared via link)
- Unlimited Etch e-sign packets (from the Anvil dashboard or shared via link)
Note: The Free plan does not allow for any API or integrated usage. You’ll need to upgrade to the Metered plan to use Anvil over API.
What is included in the Metered plan?
The Metered plan is ideal for product teams and developers looking to integrate with or use Anvil over API. It includes everything in the Free plan, as well as:
- A production API key
- Free integrated usage credits:
- 2,500 PDF Fill/Gen API
- 25 E-sign packets
- 25 Workflow submissions
The Metered plan allows you to use Anvil’s products (PDF Fill/Generation APIs, Workflows, and Etch Packets) programmatically over API, either directly integrated or via third party integrations.
Get started by adding a valid credit card, which will automatically enable metered usage and give you access to a production key.
Note: Gifted credits are added to accounts created on and after June 2nd, 2025. These credits are applied once and do not expire. This means your integrated usage is free until you exceed your credits, at which point you will be billed monthly for any usage.
What is included in the Product pack?
The Product pack is ideal for teams that want to customize the user experience and access advanced signing features. It’s especially recommended if you plan to embed Anvil Workflows or Etch E-signatures in your app. It includes:
- All core features from the Free plan
- Advanced signing features:
- Interactive signing: Signers can provide both information and signatures during the signing process.
- Unordered signing: Signers can sign in any order.
- Progressive signing: Signers can add or update information between signers.
- In-person signing: Host and guide signers in-person when remote signing isn’t available.
- Whitelabel Webforms and signature pages with a CSS stylesheet.
- Higher production rate limits (40 requests/second)
- Additional user seats are discounted or included depending on your subscription type.
Product pack subscription types
The Product pack may be paid monthly or annually upfront.
- Monthly: $425 billed monthly, includes 2 seats.
- Additional seats discounted by 50%. Add up to 3 additional seats for $25 per seat/month.
- Annual: $4080 billed annually (20% discount).
- Includes 5 seats with no additional charge.
How many seats are included with an Anvil account?
The number of seats included in your account depends on your plan and add-on subscriptions. By default Anvil plans support:
- Free: 2 seats
- Metered: 2 seats
- Enterprise: Unlimited seats
The Additional users add-on allows you to add up to 3 additional seats at $50 per seat (5 seats total). Additional seats are billed upfront monthly.
The monthly Product pack add-on can be combined with the Additional users add-on to receive a discounted rate of $25 per seat (50% discount per seat).
The annual Product pack add-on includes 5 seats and cannot be combined with the Additional users add-on, since the maximum number of seats is already included. If you need more than 5 seats, you will need an Enterprise plan.
How are billable submissions, signatures, and PDF API requests counted?
What’s free? All e-signature packets and Workflow submissions that are started, interacted with, and completed exclusively through the Anvil dashboard or share link.
What’s billed? Integrated live usage – like filling and generating PDFs programmatically with a production API key, embedding submissions and signature packets, downstream work involving webhooks, Zapier, and any general use of third party integrations.
What counts as submission?
Each time a Workflow is started, it generates a unique URL. That unique URL represents a submission. A completed submission occurs when all of the data is submitted and the completed PDFs are generated.
Only completed submissions that were started, interacted with, and or completed over API or in an integrated way (UI URLS, third party integration, embedded, etc.), count towards billable usage. All other submissions are free.
What counts as a signature?
A signature is when all parties that need to sign a signature packet have completed signing. A signature packet could have 1 or more signers and 1 or more PDFs. Most signature usage will be free. For a signature to be billable it must meet two criteria:
- All parties have signed and the signature packet is fully executed. We do not charge for sending signature requests.
- The signature packet was interacted with in an integrated way, such as over API or through a third party integration.
What if my Workflows include signatures?
A Workflow that includes a signature will count towards both the Workflow and the signature usages. Usage is counted upon completion of each discrete step.
Once all data has been submitted on a Workflow, a billable submission is counted towards your usage. Then after all signers have signed the associated signature packet, a billable signature is counted towards your usage.
As with standalone Workflow submissions and Etch E-sign packets, only integrated usage is considered billable.
How much does it cost to use Anvils’ API?
Integrated API usage first draws from your free credits, followed by any pre-purchased usage. Integrated API usage beyond these buckets are billed the final day of your monthly billing cycle at the following rates:
- $0.10 per PDF Fill/Generation
- $1.00 per Workflow submission
- $1.50 per Etch packet
Note: If you do not incur any usage in a billing cycle, you will not be charged for usage. Should you begin using Anvil’s products in high volumes, you can save money by purchasing your usage upfront in bulk at a discounted rate.
Does Anvil offer bulk discounts with increased usage?
If you are integrating and using/plan to use any of Anvil’s products at high volume, the pre-paid usage add-on allows you to purchase usage upfront at a discounted rate. Bulk discounts increase with volume so, the more you pre-purchase, the lower your unit price.
Bulk usage for each product can be purchased separately and discounts start at the following pre-puchased amounts:
- PDF Fill and/or Generation API: 25,000
- Workflow submissions: 1,000
- Etch E-sign packets: 1,000
All pre-paid bulk usage expires 1 year from your first bulk purchase date, which sets the expiration cycle. If you want to add more bulk usage before the end of your cycle, all additional units will share the original expiration date.

How do I enable the Metered plan?
When you register for an Anvil account, you’ll automatically be subscribed to our Free plan. You can upgrade to the Metered plan by adding a valid credit card through your organizations’ billing page.
To add a credit card to your account:
- Click your profile icon at the bottom of the navigation bar
- Select Upgrade your plan
- This will redirect you to your organizations’ billing page
- Scroll down to “Payment Methods” and select Add a payment method
- Enter your credit card information
- Click Add payment method to save
Note: Once the Metered plan is enabled, you’ll unlock your production API key as well and free credits.
What is my billing cycle?
Your billing cycle starts with your first subscription. Adding new subscriptions may prorate or reset your cycle.
- Additional users: Prorated to match your current cycle.
- Pre-paid usage: Pre-paid usage is billed upfront and does not impact your monthly billing cycle.
- Product pack: Resets your billing cycle. Any metered usage will be billed and you’ll be credited for unused time on user seats.
How am I billed if I’m subscribed to multiple add-ons?
This depends on what type of usage you have (metered or pre-paid bulk) and which add-ons you’re subscribed to.
- Additional users & the monthly Product pack add-ons are charged monthly upfront.
- Pre-paid usage & annual Product pack add-ons are billed annually upfront.
- Metered usage is billed monthly in arrears for any production usage in the billing cycle.
The expiration date of pre-paid usage purchased after or in conjunction with an annual Product pack will be co-termed with the end of your Product pack billing cycle. Since discounts increase with volume, we recommend pre-purchasing usage alongside the annual Product pack to buy a years’ worth of expected usage.
For pre-paid usage purchased before an annual Product pack, the end of your Product packs’ billing cycle will be co-termed with your bulk usage. Anvil will pro-rate the annual Product pack subscription fee.
What payment methods are supported?
Generally, only one payment method is allowed per account. However, pre-paid bulk usage can be invoiced and paid separately.
- Subscriptions: (Product pack, additional users, metered usage) Credit card only.
- Bulk usage: Credit card or ACH.
How do I unsubscribe from my subscriptions?
You cannot unsubscribe from metered usage once you have added a credit card and enabled the Meterd plan. However, you can prevent usage charges at any time by discontinuing your use of Anvil in a programmatic or integrated way.
Pre-paid usage is a one time, upfront payment and is not considered a subscription. Note that pre-paid use, including any unused units, are not refundable.
Both additional users and Product packs are paid for in advance and you can unsubscribe from these add-ons by contacting us at support@useanvil.com.
After unsubscribing, you will continue to have access to all Product pack features and additional user seats through the end of your billing cycle. If you have more than 2 users in your organization when your billing cycle ends, you’ll be billed at $50 per additional seat/month. To avoid unwanted charges be sure to remove additional users from your organization before your billing cycle ends.
